Obstacles haven’t kept UWS runner from nationals
Jason Lindelof’s two-story Duluth home was considered a total loss in an August fire started by a toaster. The Wisconsin-Superior student from Woodbury, Minn., had to live in hotel rooms for three weeks and, more recently, has rented a room in Lakeside.

Prep sports: Anderson, Garrity area’s top runners
Moving up 69 spots at the Minnesota Class AA high school boys cross country meet marked what kind of year it was for Grand Rapids senior Grady Anderson.
Hibbing senior Tatum Garrity, slowed by illness, didn’t finish 2009 the way she hoped, but remained the most consistent girl runner in the area with six victories, then placed fourth place in Section 7AA and 52nd in Class AA.

Record number set to run in Whistlestop Marathon
The leaves along Lake Superior’s south shore are beautiful, the Tri-County Corridor limestone trail is in great shape, and a record 2,800 runners are entered in the 12th annual WhistleStop Marathon and Half-Marathon on Saturday.
