The ugliness of a few can taint a larger group — can even irreparably damage an entire community. Think Catholic priests preying on young boys, Islamic terrorists, even the Vikings’ Randy Moss mooning Green Bay Packers’ fans. So how much harm did some University of Minnesota Duluth men’s hockey fans do on Oct. 17 by chanting, not just once but several times, a homosexual slur during a game against Minnesota State Mankato? There’s no telling — not yet — the impact on Duluth’s reputation.
