Steger leaving UMD football program for Southern Illinois
Southern Illinois defensive coordinator Bubba Schweigert called John Steger just before Christmas to tell the Minnesota Duluth defensive coordinator that the Salukis had an inside linebacker coaching position available.

Junior running back Isaac Odim became the first Minnesota Duluth football player to be named a two-time All-American after he was named Tuesday to the 25-man American Football Coaches Association NCAA Division II All-American Team.

Saturday’s victory may have re-established Grand Valley as the team to beat in the region, but don’t expect UMD to be out of the national playoff picture any time soon.
