Athletes work toward, reach milestones
The University of Minnesota Duluth men's hockey team has lost just one game since Oct. 15 when the Bulldogs fell to rival University of Minnesota. The loss was Jan. 14, in a conference game against the University of Nebraska Omaha.

Scholastica senior juggles school, sports and music
St. Scholastica 21-year-old senior Preston Gunderson has been playing music since he was three, and football since he was in the fourth grade.
In his senior season with the Saints football team, Gunderson was part of a team that made history in only its fourth season, while working on his second album, titled “While I was Gone.”

Happiness isn't only stadium consideration
My daughter tells me that “for most people in Minnesota, we couldn’t care less if the Vikings cease to exist, especially with their recent record.”
I’m not nearly so indifferent about the push by the Vikings to get a new stadium, but neither can I agree with others who say they don’t mind where the stadium goes as long as it’s in Minnesota.

Duluth traditions: winter starts here
The Duluth Thanksgiving holiday weekend has become a family tradition for thousands of visitors who put away the turkey and football, and gear up for a weekend unlike any other. New sports apparel shop opens in downtown Skywalk
Seven years ago, Steve Miller quit school to pursue his lifelong dream of owning a sports apparel shop. Miller had completed one year at Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College in the law enforcement program but knew that was not where his heart was.
“It’s been a childhood dream; it’s what I’ve wanted to do for as long as I can remember,” he said.
Miller recently moved from West Duluth to the downtown Skywalk and opened Skywalk Sports
in the beginning of
September.

SARAH PACKINGHAM - Sports brings us together
I am a sports fanatic, and there’s nothing wrong with that. “Fanatic” is where the word “fan” comes from. I always have been one and I always will be. Anybody who knows me knows that sports is a huge part of my life. They know I’d rather be in the stands at a Bulldog hockey game or watching a Twins game on TV than doing almost anything else.
