Your vote counts Nov. 6 when you stand firmly with the laws of nature and nature’s God.

Reader's View: Anti-gay-marriage letter used faulty arguments
The Sept. 18 letter, “Male-female hormones unite in God’s harmonious balance,” used God and inaccurate generalizations to justify voting “yes” on Minnesota’s upcoming marriage amendment. The writer’s ignorant comments were extremely misleading and insulting.

Reader's view: Bible says to follow God’s laws, not conscience
In response to a letter urging voters to vote their conscience, yes, Jesus did say faith, hope and love with the greatest being love. Voicing an opinion against gay marriage is not saying a person isn’t loving. Like me, many truly believe what the Bible says in Leviticus that men having sex with men is an abomination, and what it says in 1 Corinthians that homosexual offenders will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Reader's view: Some letter-writers selective in use of Bible quotes
A recent letter-writer cited various biblical passages purportedly stating that homosexuality is a sin. Only one explicitly mentioned homosexuality. This writer read into the other passages something that was not there.

Reader’s view: Male-female hormones unite in God’s harmonious balance
No one is denying anyone love, but marriage is a special relationship between men and women that God (or nature for nonbelievers) created from the beginning of time.

Reader’s view: Amendment is about common good, not freedom
It’s surprising so many have been willing to post misleading and deceptive lawn signs. I refer to the ones reading, “Vote no; don’t limit the freedom to marry.”

Reader's View: Politicians’ and media’s support for gay lifestyle hypocritical
It seems all the local politicians and media support the gay lifestyle.

Reader's View: Only reason to oppose gay marriage is prejudice
Do you believe adultery is immoral? Probably so, yet it’s doubtful you’d support a constitutional amendment to ban adulterers from marrying or remarrying.

Vikings' Kluwe among athletes speaking out on gay marriage issue
NFL punters are only seen on fourth down and heard from less than that. But with Minnesota voters weighing whether to ban gay marriage this fall, Vikings punter Chris Kluwe has emerged as a high-profile gay rights champion — and a symbol of changing attitudes toward homosexuality in the sports world.

Egypt clears protesters from U.S. embassy area
Egyptian police on Saturday cleared out protesters who have been clashing with security forces for the past four days near the U.S. Embassy as most cities around the Muslim world reported calm a day after at least six people were killed in a wave of angry protests over an anti-Islam film.

Reader's view: Gay men will be healthier without right to marry
I am gay, and I am voting “yes” on the marriage amendment. The lifespan of gay men is 20 years shorter than straight men. HIV among young gay men is on an incline. Gays are dying across this state. We need to fix these problems, not pass out marriage licenses and adoption entitlements.

Reader's view: Same-sex marriage poses no danger
I live right next door to the writer of the July 30 letter, “City turned upside down over support of homosexuals.” Literally. I’ve met him and his very lovely wife, and I believe I met their children and grandchildren in passing last month.

Sometimes, ‘no’ means saying yes — to love
Lately, these orange signs have been popping up in yards around Duluth. They proclaim “Vote No” with some smaller text that my middle-aged eyes can’t quite read as I am driving down the road. I am not one to get involved in political debates, since I know that most people have their minds made up before they speak them, and I don’t know enough about the issues to make a valid argument one way or another. The orange signs are just more propaganda.
