Field reports: Minnesota pheasant harvest drops 43 percent
Minnesota’s pheasant harvest dropped 43 percent from 2010 to 2011, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. Hunters took an estimated 204,000 pheasants last fall. An estimated 77,000 hunters went afield in 2011, down 13 percent from 2010.

Andrew Frielund doesn’t fish walleyes on Fish Lake much these days. He used to, when walleyes were easier to catch here. Now the Duluth angler, whose family has had a cabin on the lake since the early 1980s, usually looks somewhere else.
