Local View: Un-Fair critics should open themselves to exhibit
I understand how some people are feeling attacked by the Un-Fair Campaign’s media materials. Many of us who are white, when first faced with the reality of white privilege, take it personally. The thinking goes: if white privilege exists and is unfair, then white people must be bad. Well, it doesn’t work that way. White privilege describes a system, not a people. That may not be clear from the billboards, but it’s true.

Reader's view: UMD should have condemned Un-Fair Campaign
The University of Minnesota Board of Regents and the UMD chancellor seem to condone and commit bigotry by forcing the privileged-white issue, even if they have “indefinitely suspended” the University of Minnesota Duluth’s membership in the Un-Fair Campaign, as they announced July 3.

Reader's view: Editor’s conclusion of racism ironic
I suspect that in his Feb. 5 column about the Un-Fair Campaign (which was erroneously republished on July 1), News Tribune Editor Robin Washington failed to see the irony in suggesting, without basis, that a state trooper was being racist (“Racism easy to see with a little help”).

Racist letter shows the need for anti-racism efforts
CHUCK FREDERICK COLUMN: Question all you want how the Un-Fair Campaign is going about delivering its message. But I wish anyone doubting the urgency of taking on racism in our community had been at the News Tribune yesterday when the Opinion page’s morning mail was being opened.

Our View / Un-Fair Campaign: More productive approach can better deliver message
From the beginning, the Un-Fair Campaign has been aggressive, in-your-face and, to put it nicely, uncomfortable for much of Duluth.

Billboard backlash: Ignore it and it won’t go away
The young person asked me not to use her name (or his, and respecting that, I won’t disclose the gender) because technically, the act could be considered a misdemeanor. But if it is, then prosecute away, and I’ll gladly serve as a character witness.

Reader's view: Campaign promotes the hate of white people
I don’t get the point of the Un-Fair Campaign. Is it saying white people don’t understand how it feels to be discriminated against? That just isn’t true, especially for gay whites, fat whites and other whites. How about a white male who applies at the same time as a Native American at the casino and who loses out on the job because the casino has Native hiring preferences?
