Reader’s view: NRA’s mental health focus could trample on rights
The news seems replete with reports (pushed by the National Rifle Association, no doubt) that we need a wider mental-health net to “catch” the potential shooters in our midst. Stop and think: Is this even remotely possible? If we pursue this approach, big government, which the NRA and conservative Republicans typically oppose, would increase and could become easily (and quickly) oppressive and intrusive on individual, personal rights.
