Do it: Rivers, now
A couple of weeks ago in this space, we suggested you check out the runoff on North Shore streams. We were premature. Now, though, those rivers are worth a look. Here are some to try: Tischer Creek in Duluth, from Vermilion Road down to East Fourth Street; the Baptism River near Silver Bay (enter the park, get your $5 daily permit, and drive up to the trailhead, hike in to the river about three-quarters of a mile); or drive all the way to Pigeon River State Park near Grand Portage and hike a short distance to the falls.
