Fishing lake trout on Saganaga Lake in the winter requires an angler to jump through a few hoops. The lake straddles the Minnesota-Ontario border. Much of the Minnesota side of Saganaga Lake is within the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, which has rules about motor use. Snowmobiles are permitted on the Minnesota side of the lake only in a designated corridor that runs from Sag Narrows up to the Canadian border.
