Column: Wolves belong to the people and should not be hunted
Wolves “belong” to the public. Most of the public, whatever color, do not want them hunted — again. I feel that the position of the tribes and tribal people, as well as 370 or so members of the North Wolf Alliance has been ignored by the leadership of St. Louis County.

Restore decency, stop killing wolves
Wolves are as much a part of the real Minnesota as the 10,000 lakes. No one would say there are too many lakes in the state and lobby to destroy a bunch of them; but that was done to wolves, behind closed doors, and more than 400 innocent wolves subsequently were killed in just a few months.

Eager gobbler
Corey Schneberger of Cloquet had seen plenty of turkeys at close range before. He had had hens practically step on his feet. He had called gobblers close enough to shoot with his bow.

States have a duty to maintain hunting seasons that benefit all
Arguments remain as to whether wolf hunting seasons should continue. Like elsewhere, Minnesota and Wisconsin, both of which hosted their first sanctioned wolf hunts in decades this past fall, face outrage from environmentalists and animal-rights activists.

Talking turkey: Hunters share tales of gobblers
Gobblers do crazy things. They play hard to get. They come in like freight trains. They duel with each other. They fall hopelessly in love. On the eve of turkey hunting seasons in Minnesota and Wisconsin, four hunters tell tales (attached stories) of memorable days in the woods. A dad and his daughter, a nephew’s first hunt, close encounters with gobblers and a farmer named Snuffy.
