Reader's View: Cravaack not a defender of Medicare
As a 48-year-old for whom retirement seems far less fuzzy and far away than it used to, I take personal offense at U.S. Rep. Chip Cravaack’s television ads in which he claims to be a defender of Medicare.

Reader's view: Cravaack’s position on violence against women indefensible
On June 6, I marched with 15 members of “Women Against Cravaack” to his office in Duluth. We chanted and carried signs depicting our message because we are sick of his justifications for the “fake” Violence Against Women Act. I know many survivors of domestic violence, and U.S. Rep. Chip Cravaack’s position is indefensible.

Reader's view: Supporters misrepresent Cravaack’s Medicare record
While driving to work the other day, I was surprised see a billboard thanking U.S. Rep. Chip Cravaack for “protecting Medicare.” This surprised me greatly since, in point of fact, Congressman Cravaack voted not just once but twice for the Republican plan to abolish the guaranteed Medicare benefit and to replace it with a voucher program that would require seniors to purchase private health insurance on the open market.

Reader's view: Cravaack endorsement ignorant and irrational
A common caveat speaks to how important it is to learn from the past. In endorsing U.S. Rep. Chip Cravaack, the News Tribune obviously forgot former Rep. Rick Nolan’s stellar record of achievement as a U.S. congressman during a period of time when Cravaack was still in high school.
