Reader's view: Un-Fair billboards describe human nature
I am a white woman in my 60s working in Duluth. I am not offended by the anti-racism billboards. I understand them to mean that when people spend most of their time with people who look just like them they have a more difficult time understanding people who look different. Perhaps the billboards should have been worded like that.

Reader's view: Dialogue needed, but program’s billboards offensive
This is regarding the “It’s hard to see racism when you’re white” billboards. The topic is a good one and needed. However, I find the signs extremely offensive and against my civil liberties.

Reader's View: Many kinds of people experience prejudice
Perhaps my skin is a few shades too white because I fail to see how promoting racism on billboards by unfaircampaign.org could bring about healing or equality.

Reader's view: Hockey fans show racism is alive in Duluth
During a recent trip to Duluth, I viewed the billboards scattered about town proclaiming that white people have a hard time seeing racism. I thought to myself: Is Duluth any more racist an area than anywhere else? I received my answer at the University of Minnesota Duluth vs. North Dakota hockey game that Saturday night.

National view: Liberal or conservative, we’re not enemies
The starkest evidence of how conservative southwest Missouri is didn’t come from the Interstate 44 roadside ads for Fantastic Caverns, the constant reminders of how much “MoDot cares” or even the billboard proclaiming “Government control is not the answer. Self-control is the answer.”

Reader’s view: Ending white privilege may take a lifetime of work
We’ve seen the billboards. We’ve read the tag line. Maybe we’ve come to understand that white privilege describes a system in which we live — a system that, like the water that surrounds a fish, is hard to fully comprehend because it is so familiar and pervasive. We get it. We don’t like it. We want to change it.
