  • Olivia Jones, 5, of Hermantown caught her first fish on Memorial Day at Comstock Lake near Cotton. She was fishing for sunfish with a very tiny hook when she wondered where her bobber went. her Addy told her he though she had a fish on and to reel it in! She did and we were all surprised to see this big northern. In the excitement nobody thought to measure it before it was released!

  • Larry Dyson of Duluth holds a silver pike caught and released by his father-in-law Bob Tobias on Snowbank Lake near Ely. The silver pike is not a subspecies, but rather a mutation of the northern pike. Silver pike are considered rare. Only an estimated 20 lakes in North America hold the silver pike.
