Christopher Allen Shatto Sr., 52, of Superior, Wis., passed away the early morning of Feb.7, 2014 at Essentia Health in Duluth.
Chris was born Sept. 109, 1961 in Duluth, to Stanley and Patricia Shatto.
Chris was well known for his generous character and sound judgment. He was an honest, charitable soul with a big heart; who often put the best interests of others before his own. Chris was also a wise mediator and adviser, and had the ability to see the good in every person he touched. He was a wonderful father and a dedicated worker of many facets; most notably, he was an exceptional mechanic and first-rate carpenter who took pride in his work. Chris was notorious for his engaging humor, remarkable pool skills, outstanding cooking, and his love of collecting tropical fish. Chris also enjoyed casual golfing, particularly with his brother Jeff.
He is preceded in death by his father Stanley Shatto; his nephew Chad Shatto; and his canine companion Jackson.
Chris is survived by his children, Jennie (Dan Adams) Calhoun, Daniel Shatto, Kyle (Alyssa Anderson) McDonald, Christopher Shatto Jr., Lynette Shatto, his godson José Valdez; nine grandchildren, Ayden, Danny, Lybie, Alexus, Kilee, Kalvin, Kyle, Kalyn and Raelene; as well as his mother Patricia Stark; stepfather Bob Stark; and his stepmother Patty Shatto; his sisters Janet (Dave Johnson) Shatto, Diane (Dave) Conner; his brother Jeffrey (Alvine) Shatto; his stepbrother and stepsister Greg (Amy) Cobb and Shelly Thompson, as well as his significant other Victoria Higgens.
GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014 until the 8 p.m. memorial service in the Cremation Society, 4100 Grand Avenue, Duluth.
A benefit will be later held March 8, 2014 at 4 p.m. at the Eagles Club, 1710 N. 12th St. Superior, WI.
