Betty Jane Crowell, 82, of Georgetown, Texas, passed away on Dec. 27, 2013, in Georgetown surrounded by loving family members.
Betty was born on March 1, 1931, in Randolph, Nebraska, to Emery E. and Annie McCallum Lindquist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clark, and her brother Jim. She is survived by her children Ann (Larry) Nyberg, Clark Crowell and Kirk (Tana) Crowell; grandchildren, Lars Nyberg and Lennea (Eddie) Jenkins, Maggie, Lauren and Julia Crowell. She is also survived by her sister Bonnie Johnson and her brother Dennis (Darlene) Lindquist and her sisters-in-law Barbara O’Malia and Wilma Lindquist and numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty spent some of her working years as a school secretary in Duluth, MN. She was active in the PTA and the United Way, where she was the Assistant Chairman in Duluth for several years. She is best remembered here from working at B’s Hallmark in Georgetown on Williams Dr. Her smile and friendly demeanor exemplified a lot about what makes Georgetown the wonderful city that it is. She was also a volunteer at Georgetown Hospital for many years and a member of the Poppy’s. Betty was also an active member in the First Presbyterian Church, serving the church by counting the Sunday offering for years.
At the age of 82 she never forgot a name, a face or a birthday and her incredible memory served her well in working her crossword puzzles.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at the First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Michael Roberts officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in Betty’s name be made to the First Presbyterian Church- Memorial Fund, 703 S. Church St., Georgetown, TX 78626 or Children’s Advocacy Center, 1811 SE Inner Loop, Georgetown, Texas 78626.
