Bill was born May 25, 1935 to Ernest and Henrietta Jaap.
He graduated from Duluth East High School.
Bill married Mary (Micky) Powers on April 26, 1958. He was an Air Force Veteran serving in the 8th Air Force 99th Bomb Wing Strategic Air Command. Bill was employed in the floral business retiring in 2000. He loved fly fishing for steelhead and trout and hunting for grouse and deer.
He was a member in the Brule River Sportsmen Club, Lake Superior Steelhead Assn., NRA and Trout Unlimited. Also in 1962 he co-founded Twin Ports Ostomy Club.
Bill is survived by his wife Micky of 55 years; daughters, Laura (Jim Senst) of Excelsior, Beth (Dave) Royer of Duluth, Brenda of St. Paul; sons, Bill (Liz) of Minneapolis and Mike (Ceci) of Stillwater; brother Ernie (Pat) of Port Townsend, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; also sister-in-law Lowayne Flewell of Duluth; brother-in-law Jack (Sue) Powers of Minneapolis.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, in Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Avenue, Duluth. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Family and friends are invited to St. Michael's Church for lunch immediately following the service.
