Robert Harry Seppanen
Robert “Bob” H. Seppanen, 81 years, of Esko passed away Saturday Nov. 30, 2013, in Miller Dwan Medical Center. Bob was born Sept. 25, 1932, to Harry and Elsie (Gronroos) Seppanen and raised in Kettle River, MN.
Bob graduated from Cromwell High School in 1950 and served in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany from 1953-55. He married Mamie Wiitanen Oct. 15, 1955, and they had resided in Kettle River, Proctor, Cromwell and Esko over their 58 years of marriage.
Bob was a member of the Teamsters Local 346 driving truck for Briggs and Glendenning and also St. Louis County Public Works as an equipment operator retiring in 1995. He previously had worked for the Kettle River Coop service station for 10 years. Bob was a member of the Kettle River American Legion Chapter 360, Cromwell YOT, MN Finnish American Historical Society Lakehead Chapter #1.
Bob is survived by his wife, Mamie; daughter Carol Horabik; son James; sister Bernice Leino; brother Jerry (Diane) Seppanen; grandchildren Peter Seppanen, Emily Horabik; aunt Edith Hedin; brother-in-law Rudy (Susan) Wiitanen and nieces and nephews.
Memorial serviCES: Wednesday, Dec. 4, at noon with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. in Nelson Funeral Care, Cloquet. Military honors will be conducted by the Cloquet Combined Honor Guard. See the online guestbook at www.nelsonfuneralcare.net
