Joseph Stanislave Erchul Jr., 90, of Biwabik, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, in Clayridge Assisted Living in Biwabik.
Joseph was born Feb. 17, 1923, in Virginia, to Joseph Sr. and Angela Erchul. He was a 1940 graduate of Gilbert High School. At the age of 17, he enlisted with the U.S. Marines and served in the South Pacific during World War II. Joseph was married to Helen (Kosteliz) and retired as a mechanic from Erie Mining Co.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen, in 1976; and his sister, Patty Kelly.
Joseph is survived by his daughter, Denise (Glen Olson) Erchul of Biwabik; son Theodore (Julie) Erchul of Mt. Iron; grandchildren Alecia Waisanen and Hailey Erchul; brother Frank Erchul of McKinley; sisters Angela Johnson of Duluth, Ann Gerzina of Duluth and Fran Rojeski of Gilbert; and several nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: 9:30 until the 10:30 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, Dec. 4, in Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert with Fr. Steven Daigle officiating.
Burial with Military Honors accorded by the Aurora/Hoyt Lakes Color Guard will be at the Lakeside Cemetery in Biwabik.
