Violet Margaret Price, 92, of Duluth, passed away on Friday, Oct. 18 with her four boys at her side.
She was born in Chisholm, Minn., on Jan. 24, 1921.
Vi was an Air Force wife, mother to her boys, a housewife, waitress, and housekeeper at St. Luke’s hospital.
She loved to sew, winning several “Dress a Doll” contests in Duluth in the 70’s, quilted with her husband and made elaborate clown costumes when her family was involved with a clown club when stationed in Alaska.
She is remembered for providing a wonderful home for her family, making 12 dozen cookies at a time (only to see them devoured by all the kids in the neighborhood by days end), taffy pulls, homemade jigsaw puzzles and huge pans of “bars”.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter Louis Shvegel and Louise Marie (Mervar) Shvegel; husband David Carroll Price; two brothers, Edward P. (Beatrice “Tootie”) Shvegel, and Peter Louis Shvegel Jr.; five sisters, Mary “Mae” (Morgan) Johnson, Josephine (Edward) Westerdahl, Antoinette (Louis) Rossman, Georgette (Willard) Farwell and Dorothy (Albert) Gravelle).
She is survived by four sons, Stephen (Cindi Doty), Gregory (Terry Volk), Thomas and Patrick (Rebecca Yingst); grandson Chad Price; granddaughters Stella Price and Kelly Gitar; great granddaughter Ashlee Neppl; and numerous nieces and nephews.
