Archie James Johnson, 79, of Duluth, passed away on Oct. 27, 2013 in Essentia (St. Mary’s) Hospital.
Archie was born in Toledo, Ohio on Feb. 11, 1934 to Archibald and Dorothy (Bay) Johnson.
He graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1952, Kansas City Junior College in 1954 and The University of Minnesota in 1957 with a B.A. degree. He spent the majority of his working career as a licensed tug captain. Later on, Archie worked as a licensed real estate agent until his retirement. He married Brenda Kull and had two daughters, Dana and Cheryl. Archie’s primary interests were politics-city, county, state and national as well as working around his home and yard.
He is preceded in death by his ex-wife Brenda; and parents Dorothy and Archie.
Archie is survived by two daughters, Dana (Tim) Munz and her four children, Jack III, Rebecca, Danny and Emily; Cheryl Miner and her three children, Breanna, Taylor and Alexander and one great-grandson Billy Jr. “Needy.”
The family is forever grateful to the staff of St. Ann’s and to Jean Kilgore who was a member of Tele-care. She called Archie to check on his wellbeing every day.
