William A. "Bill" Wright of Biwabik Minn., passed away Nov. 4, 2013 in Virginia Minn.
Bill was born in Bowdon N.D., on Jan. 21, 1928 to Fred and Dorothy Wright.
Bill was a decorated veteran of the Korean War and was a proud recipient of a thank you letter from the Korean Government. After the Army, He worked at the West Fargo stockyards for a time. Later he began a career working in the mining industry. He worked at many sites including Silver Bay and Nashwauk. He did everything ranging from security to labor and before retiring 33 years ago, he was a Boiler Fireman at Erie Mining Co./ LTV Steel. In retirement, he was a truck driver for Al Mugge in Hoyt Lakes. Bill also volunteered in many communities in the area.
Bill and Donyta shared a passion for politics and their home became the go-to place for Democratic politicians and supporters from all over the country on the 4th of July. After walking the parades, they would stop at Bill and Donyta’s home for food, rest, and lively conversation. Their small, humble home became a gathering of Who’s Who in Minnesota. Governors and presidential hopefuls would enjoy their hospitality as did neighbors and friends .
Surviving Bill is his wife of 62 years, Donyta; and sisters, Ruth Sogn (Torp) and Edith Fay (John); children, Rebecca Poirier (Richard), Stuart Wright (Hazel), Jason Wright (Rick Salas), Paul Wright (Kristin Tupa), Heather Wright Licari (David Adler); son-in-law Christopher Licari; grandchildren, Ruth Poirier (Caleb Friz), and Veronica, Andrea and Julia Licari; and great grandchildren Emrys and Artemis Poirier; mother-in-law, Ardyth Sigmund; sister-in-law, Sher Ruff; special friend Patrick Harrington; and many other previous family members.
