"Jimmy The Bus"
James David Maas, 65, of Duluth passed away Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, after a courageous battle with leukemia, surrounded by his family at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth.
Jim was born on Dec. 30, 1947 in Duluth to Bob and Fern Maas.
He attended Central High School and entered the U.S. Navy in January of 1965. He completed two tours of duty in Vietnam. On Aug. 28, 1971 he married his best friend and loving wife of 42 years, Donna (Bolen), and later became proud father of two children and grandfather of six grandchildren. Jim retired from Upper Lakes Foods in 2010, after 37 years of service, the last 12 years driving the test kitchen bus, which earned him the nickname "Jimmy The Bus".
Jim enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle and was a previous member of the Spartan Motorcycle Club, and a proud retired member of the BPM Motorcycle Club. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing at Fish Lake with his dad, brothers, son and grandkids, and cooking his famous Italian spaghetti sauce.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Tommy andJackie.
Jim is survived by his wife, Donna; son, Jimmy II (Suzie) Maas; daughter, Jennifer (Andel) Brown; grandchildren, Kayla, Austin, Ashley, Ameyah, Alaysia and Alyviah; brother, Rob (Marilyn) Maas and many nephews and good friends.
CELEBRATION OF LIFE: 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, in the Grand Lake Town Hall, on Hwy 53 in Twig, Minn.
