Leroy D. Larson, 79 of Carlton, passed away at home Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013 with his family at his side.
He was born March 11, 1934 to Hjalmer "Rudy" and Edith (Chell) Larson in East Lake, Minn.
Leroy attended Garfield and Carlton Schools. He was united in marriage to Judy Sessler on Aug. 20, 1960 in Mahtowa. Leroy worked for 46 years at Potlatch Corp. retiring in 1997 as chief boiler tender and also drove school bus for 32 years for the Carlton School District.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge No. 1274, the Masonic Lodge, Viking Shrine, and the Dune Buggy Patrol. Leroy was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a dedicated "family man" to his children and grandchildren.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carol Ostman; and sister-in-law, Dolly.
He is survived by his wife, Judy of 53 years; their children, Duane, Cindy, Paul (Kelly), Martin (Dawn), Kenneth, and Leland; seven grandchildren Katelyn (Tim), Kristen, Teddi-Jo, Tiara, Gracie, Joseph and Brigette; brothers, Albin (Jill) Larson and Wendell Larson; sister, Karen (Darvin) Morrow; and numerous nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, 2013 in Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet. Memorial services will be Tuesday, Oct. 22nd, at 12:30 p.m. with a one hour prior visitation in Nelson Funeral Care.
