Abby Alice Scarcella, 88, of Duluth, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, in Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation Center in Duluth.
Abby was born Feb. 1, 1925, in Minneapolis, to Theodore and Alice (Dyberg) Blixt. As a young girl she moved with her family and has been a resident of the area ever since. Abby married James Scarcella July 10, 1948, in Duluth.
She was a member of the Duluth Heights Garden Club and was president for several years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James, in 2007; infant daughter Elizabeth; and her sister, Florence Scotford.
Abby is survived by her children, James (Peggy) Scarcella of Duluth, Marilyn (Rick) Adamski of Duluth, and Suz-Anne (Bradley) Hedman of Chaska, Minn.; grandchildren Chad Mass, Jody (Ross) Eaton, Michael Adamski, Evan Hedman and Nathan Hedman; and three great-grandchildren.
A GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: 10 until the 11 a.m. service Friday, Oct. 25, Dougherty Funeral Home Chapel.
Abby will be placed in a niche next to James in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Duluth.
