Marilyn Ann Seeland, 83, of Saginaw, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013 in Inter-Faith Care Center, Carlton. She was born in 1930 in Paynesville, the daughter of Emil and Martha Larson. Marilyn was a 1948 graduate of Paynesville High School and was a graduate of Kahler Methodist School of Nursing in Rochester.
She married Harold “Hal” Seeland on April 15, 1952 in Paynesville.
Prior to her marriage, Marilyn worked at Colonial Methodist Hospital in Rochester. Following her marriage, she was a nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth for 30 years and worked in the ER at Cloquet Community Hospital and was a supervisor in the Cloquet Nursing Home, retiring in 1992.
Marilyn was a member of the Loose and Limber Lovely Ladies Red Hat Society, American Legion Post 71 and Teamsters Retiree 346. She enjoyed reading, visiting with her retired friends and loved spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, “Hal”; son, Mark; granddaughter, Jessica Seeland; and sisters, Elaine Jones, Eleanor Prom, Irene Larson and Pearl Deadrick.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Kathy (Chip) Kubis of Saginaw, Craig (Chris) Seeland of Duluth, Linda (Mark) Ridgewell of Duluth, Brian (Bridget) Seeland of Saginaw and Debra (Greg) Neve of New Orleans, LA; 10 grandchildren, Amanda, Jessica, Dan, Derek, Matt, Jay, Kayla, Shealynn, Elana and Mackenzie; great grandson, Connor; brother, John (Lil) Larson of Brooklyn Park; sister-in-law, Gladys Ristow of Cambridge; and numerous nieces and nephews.
SERVICE: The family will receive friends from 5–7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013 in the Fireside Room of Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet. Visitation will continue from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, in St. Raphael’s Catholic Church, 5779 Seville Road, Pike Lake. Interment will be in New Calvary Cemetery, Cloquet.
