Ron "Eric" Wendt left this life to be with the Lord Oct. 9, 2013.
Ron was born to Raymond and Marie Wendt Dec. 26, 1938, in Milwaukee. After high school, Ron joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Germany as a mechanical supply aide and later transferred to Duluth where he was united in marriage to Shirley. He was honorably discharged from the service in August of 1959. He then became an employee of Duluth City Water & Gas Co. In 1965 he divorced and returned to Milwaukee where he attended the Milwaukee Area Technical College and received an associate's degree in business administration management, which he used to start his career as owner of Eric's Catch 22 Club in Milwaukee.
In 1997 he retired and moved to Brookings, Ore. In January of 2000, after a one year tour of the U.S., he bought a home and settled in Inverness, Fla., until returning to Duluth in September of 2012 where he resided in Edgewood Vista Assisted Living until his death.
Ron was preceded in death by his beloved grand-daughter, Jaymi Marie Wendt; mother Mary Burke; and brothers Raymond Wendt Jr. and Donald Burke.
Ron is survived by his son, Randy (Jodi) Wendt; daughters Wendt Minotte and Wanda Pearcy; brothers Kenneth (Patti) Wendt of Watersmeet, Mich., and Dale Burke (Rod) of Seattle, Wash.; sister Clarice Zubke of Saukville, Wis., 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Edgewood Vista for the wonderful care Ron received.
VISITATION: Noon until the 1 p.m. memorial service Wednesday, Oct. 16, in Sunrise Funeral Home.
Arrangements by Sunrise Funeral Home. Military Honors will be accorded by the Duluth Honor Guard.
