Donald J. Dobosenski, 78, of Carlton, died unexpectedly Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013.
He was born June 12, 1935 in Sturgeon Lake, Minn., to Joseph and Susan (Betker) Dobosenski.
Don was a 1954 graduate of Willow River High School. After graduation he joined the U.S. Army in 1958. Don was united in marriage to Barbara Kolodge on Aug. 26, 1961 in Split Rock, Minn. He worked at the Conwed Corporation and later joined the Northern Natural Gas Company where he retired in 1993.
Don loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, polka dancing, telling jokes and spending time with family.
He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Carlton, the Cloquet Senior Bowling League, and the Friars Club of St. Francis in Duluth.
Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who left us with many stories and memories.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Eleanor Jurek.
He is survived by his wife Barbara of 52 years; sons, Jeff (Lori) Dobosenski, Jim (Brenda) Dobosenski; daughter, Jody (Gus) Meidinger; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth (Bonnie) Dobosenski; two sisters, Jeanette (Bernard) Katchmark and Leona (Gus) Ladd; and numerous nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013 in Nelson Funeral Care, 1004 Cloquet Ave., Cloquet, Minn., with a Rosary Service at 6:30 p.m. The visitation will resume on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis Catholic Church, 509 Sunrise Drive, in Carlton. Military Honors will be provided by the Cloquet Combined Honor Guard, followed with a luncheon in the church social hall. Interment service will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Split Rock Township.
