Norma Ruth (Wach) Kirk, 90, of Moose Lake, passed away Monday, Sept. 30 at her home.
She was born March 24, 1923 in Montague, Mich., to Matthew and Rose Mary (Blaha) Wach.
Norma moved to Willow River as a child and graduated from Willow River High School. Norma was united in marriage to Arthur "Bud" Kirk on Dec. 28, 1946 in Willow River. She worked at the Moose Lake State Hospital as a receptionist and later worked at the State Hospital as a Food Service Supervisor.
Norma enjoyed helping others. She volunteered at the Sonshine Closet in Moose Lake as well as the Historical Society and very much valued the friendships she made through that work. She also knit and sent hundreds of sweaters and scarves overseas to help needy children.
She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. She also enjoyed gardening, playing bridge and sewing, but most of all spending time with her family and friends.
Norma had an amazing sense of humor and a contagious laugh. Her family loved to take her to funny movies. She taught her family the meaning of unconditional love and was generous and gracious up until the end. She was the life of the party and will be sincerely missed.
Norma is preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Bud; three sisters, Bernice, Irene, and Lucille and infant great-grandson, Finley.
Norma is survived by her three children, Mike (Marcia) Kirk, Becky (Byron) Lief-Kuster and Jennifer (Ned) Kirk-Holle; five grandchildren, Allison Kirk, Matt (Kimberly) Kirk, Asia (Chris) Johnson, Laura (Dustin) Sieben and Taylor Johnson; seven great-grandchildren: Jonah, Makela, Jayden, Carter, India, Ledger, and Brynlee; two special nieces, Joyce Ehmke and Peggy Roudabush and special nephew, Lyle "Buddy" Ehmke.
The family would like to thank St. Croix Hospice for the tremendous care they provided to Norma over the past few months.
