Lois Jean Stauduhar, 88, of Duluth, passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 20, 2013 with her family by her side.
Lois was born in 1925 in Michigan City, Ind., to Thomas and Marion Lonson.
The family moved to Detroit Lakes, Minn., when she was a young child and later to Dululth, where she graduated from Central High School.
She met her husband, Richard Stauduhar, in Duluth in 1946, and the couple married in Richmond, Calif., later that year. Their first three children were born in California before the family returned to Duluth.
She was a longtime resident of West Duluth and active member of St. James Catholic Church. She enjoyed a close circle of friends in her West Eighth Street neighborhood and will be fondly remembered for her impromptu gatherings over coffee and her homemade baked goods. She eventually moved to Gramercy Park Senior Retirement Cooperative and later Edgewood Vista Senior Living, where she remained until her death.
Lois devoted her life to her family. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Betty; and granddaughter, Felicia Stauduhar of Duluth.
She is survived by her nine children, Thomas (Margaret), Frances (Kevin) Hoene, and Charles (Inge) all of Duluth, Susan (John) Jordan of Spokane, Wash., Philip of Apple Valley, Minn., Elizabeth (Steven) Goff of River Falls, Wis., William (Karolee) of Atlanta, Ga., Jerome of Los Angeles, Calif., and Christine of Novato, Calif.; as well as nine surviving grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank all the kind and dedicated staff members of Edgewood Vista and Essentia Health Hospice Care who provided exemplary care to Lois in her final years.
