Hildegarde Victoria Ricci, 88 of Duluth, died with her family by her side on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013 in Solvay Hospice House. She was born the ninth child of Felix and Sophie (Jatko) Hanson in Brookston, Minn on March 26, 1925. Hildegarde married David Ricci on Nov. 7, 1947 in Duluth during a record snow storm.
Hildegarde was the administrator of the Aftenro Home until her retirement. She was a longtime member of St. Michaels Catholic Church. She loved spending time at the cabin with her family. She was an excellent seamstress, designing clothing for her children. Hildegarde had amazing penmanship and was passionate about reading and writing. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren where the focus of her life
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, David; her granddaughter, Camille Carlander and six brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her children, Rebecca Nelson of Duluth, Joanne (Gary) Johnson of Duluth, Constance Ricci of Bloomington, Minn, Marina (Galen Taga) Ricci of Honolulu, Hi, David of Santa Monica, Cal, John of Duluth and Guy of Duluth; her grandchildren, Shelly (Mick) Zupetz, Jeffrey (Jennie) Nelson, Amanda Nelson, Casey Johnson, Marina (Jeff) Udd, Brianna Johnson, Owen (Jennifer) Carlander, Stephen Carlander, Devin and Hayley Taga, Dalaina Ricci; her great grandchildren, Nicholas, Matthew, James, Jalynn, Joseph, Gina, Vinny and Owen; her sisters Florence Arro and Sally Hilleran.
A PRIVATE FAMILY MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: St. Michaels Catholic Church.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
