Raymond "Bob" Pertlicek, Jr., 73, of Cohasset, Minn., died on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013 at Grand Village in Grand Rapids.
Bob was born in 1940 to Raymond and Frances Pertlicek in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
He grew up in Solon, Iowa before moving to Grand Rapids in 1950. He graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1958 and graduated from Itasca Community College. Bob was united in marriage to Martha Sjoquist on June 10, 1961 in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grand Rapids. The couple made their home in Grand Rapids where Bob worked for Bill Cashen at the Skelly Station. He later worked for Pickens-Mather as an Engineer at West Hill and Danube Mines and later in West Virginia. When Bob returned to Grand Rapids, he worked as the Store Manager for Montgomery Wards. The store closed in 1985 and Bob and Martha purchased the building and opened Bob's Southside Tire & Auto. He was President of CWDC, currently ODC, for several years.
Throughout the years, Bob enjoyed deer hunting with a great group of friends for over 40 years and fishing off their dock with the grandchildren. He also enjoyed following local and professional sports. He and Robbie spent many hours together. He and Martha travelled to Arizona in the winter to visit Holly and family and also travelled to Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Carole Schwaerzler and Cathy Pertlicek.
Bob is survived by his wife, Martha; two daughters, Holly (Clark) Rotroff and Heidi (Mike) Chandler; one son, Robbie Pertlicek; six grandchildren, Britta Threinen, Kyle Rotroff, Robert-Edward Gabriel Threinen, Kevin Threinen, Jr. David Chandler, and Grant Chandler; a great-grandson, Jase Berry; and nieces, nephews and friends.
VISITATION: 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 23, for one hour until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Drew Braun will officiate. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Coleraine, Minn.
