JAMES "JIM" WARDJames "Jim" Ward, 73, passed away in Elyria, Ohio on Sept. 4, 2013
James "Jim" Ward, 73, passed away in Elyria, Ohio on Sept. 4, 2013 while visiting his daughter and granddaughters. He resided in Huntington Beach, Calif.
He was born in Superior, to Patrick and Rose Ward on Feb. 9, 1939.
Jim was a hard working man who enjoyed life, to its fullest, HIS WAY! He retired from S.S.A. Terminals in mid-2003 as a foreman/mechanic. He enjoyed traveling with his caring wife and high school sweetheart Sally of 53 years who survives him. He enjoyed sports, especially his beloved Green Bay Packers. If you ask some people, Jim now sees for certain, that God has always been a Packer's fan! He held a seat at the Elks Club in Huntington Beach, Calif. where he caught the games and enjoyed a fresh cooked bratwurst or two. He also loved his Chevy trucks and found it to be bad luck to wash them.
Jim will be truly missed by all who knew him and could appreciate his unique sense of humor. If you didn't appreciate him and his ways, well, as he would say, "Sh** Happens!"
Jim loved every moment that he was surrounded by his family. Jim was an extremely proud and loving father of five children: daughters, Carol Hackworth, Patricia (Mike) Winkle, Sandra Dobias, Janet (Chris) Lekavich, and his only son, Dan (Natalie). He was a grandfather to seven grandchildren, Courtney and Chad Hackworth, Zack, SarahRose and Max Winkle, Emily and Katie Dobias. He is also survived by his sisters, Kay Ward and Claire Schlegal; his three brothers, Bob, Tom and Pat (Eileen); as well as many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
May he rest in Peace!
