Munro “Mike” Braden, 91, of Duluth, passed away on Monday, Sept. 9, 2013 with his family by his side.
Mike was born in Duluth on April 27, 1922 to Morris and Lee Braden.
He served his country honorably during World War II and was involved in the Northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe and European Air Offensive campaigns. He retired from the Army Reserve as a Captain.
Mike was very active in the Duluth Business Community. He was a member of the American Legion Post 28 and VFW. He held lifetime memberships in the Reserved Officer Association, Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. He also was a Mason, Shriner and a member of the Elks. Mike was an avid outdoorsman and pilot who flew to Canada frequently and was a member of the Duluth Power Squadron and the 242 Club.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Selina; son Michael; granddaughter Anna Selina Westin and sister Elizabeth Jones.
Mike is survived by his daughters, Shelly Grogan, Patty (Bill) Hanson, Kitty (Mark) Westin, Peggy (Brian) Ludwigson; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren as well as many extended family members.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of Mike’s friends and neighbors.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13, 2013 in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church 1710 E. Superior St. Duluth. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Emily Program Foundation 5354 Parkdale Dr. 2nd Floor St. Louis Park, MN 55416 or Animal Allies 4006 Airport Rd. Duluth, MN 55811.
