Joyce Carol Broadwell passed away peacefully on Sept. 2, 2013. She has been a resident of Tucson, Ariz., for 20 years, after moving down from Superior.
She was born in Duluth, on Dec. 8, 1926.
Joyce was a social worker for 20 years at St. Louis County Social Services Department, in Duluth, where she retired as a supervisor. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in journalism.
Joyce loved to travel, play bridge, play piano and do crossword puzzles. She was a devoted, loving, humorous, and independent individual, and will be very missed by her family and friends.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Albin and Betty Olson; and her son, Paul Olson Broadwell.
She is survived by three children, Jan (Broadwell) Spaeth, Kelly Broadwell, and Jay Broadwell as well as her brother, Charles Olson and his wife, Jean. She is also survived by her nieces Karen Olson and Cheryl Blaha, and her nephew, Eric Olson.
PRIVATE FAMILY MEMORIAL SERVICE: will be held. In honor of Joyce, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Alzheimers Association.
