Karen Beth Hanson passed away Aug 30, 2013, at the age of 46.
She was born March 10, 1967, in Hibbing to Donald and Marge (Loe) Toivola. Karen grew up in Hibbing among a loving family with her sister Kelly, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Karen went to beauty school in St. Cloud in 1988. She went on to work as a cosmetologist for many years.
In 1999 she started working in the Cloquet schools where she worked with kids with special needs. Karen loved the kids, then she started taking some of them after school hours. She also subbed in several group homes.
Karen married her husband, Dan “Sid” Hanson, in Hibbing on June 25, 1988. They began their marriage in Duluth, then in 1998 they moved to Cloquet.
Karen loved fishing, camping, 4-wheeling, backyard fires, doing crafts and spending time with her friends and special needs kids. She was a very loving and giving person.
Karen is survived by her husband, Sid, her daughter Alyssa Kay and boyfriend Mike Yrjo, her son Adam Jon, her parents Don and Marge Toivola, her sister Kelly and Scott Johnson. Also mother-in-law Sharon Hanson, brother-in-laws Don and Terri Hanson, Wade “Putter” and Karol Hanson, and sister-in-law Mary and Jerome Koetter.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, with visitation beginning at 6 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet. See the family online guestbook at www.nelsonfuneralcare.net
