Russell P. Garsow, 85, longtime resident of Cloquet, joined his beloved wife, Vera Thursday, July 25, 2013 surrounded by his loving family, while at Golden Oaks Assisted Living.
He was born March 7, 1928 in Duluth to Joseph and Susan.
On Nov. 18, 1953, Russ married Vera Askeland. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. Russ worked for the D. & N. E. Railroad, in various positions for 44 years.
Russ was an avid horseman. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and RV’ing. Russ was a very sociable person. He loved to play Cribbage and be with family and friends.
Russ was preceded in death by his loving wife, Vera in 1977.
He is survived by his children, Jim (Sue) of Esko, Mike (Loretta) of Seattle, Robert (Lori) of Grand Rapids, Linda (Jerome) Merrier of Scandia and Carole (Trent Hotchkin) Tesser of Duluth; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his brother, Ray (Barb) of Cloquet and sister, Audrey Baker of Springfield, Ore.; and many other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff of Golden Oaks for their thoughtfulness and loving care of Russ.
GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: 2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. memorial service Saturday, Aug. 10, in Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Ave.
