Thomas Edwin Swanstrom, 92, of Duluth, died Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Maplewood Care Center.
He was born in 1921 in Duluth in his parent's home in Lakeside.
On Jan. 21, 1949 Tom married Marjorie in Duluth on Park Point at Our Lady of Mercy Church.
Tom served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of the 125th Field Artillery and the American Legion. Tom worked for Minnesota Power for 33 years. He was an avid fan of Denfeld Volleyball and also supported his family while they played. In his earlier years, Tom enjoyed camping and fishing.
He is preceded in death by his wife in 1985; his parents, John and Hilma; and his brothers, John "Jack", Robert, and Berway.
Tom is survived by his son, David (Kim) Swanstrom of Duluth; daughter, Patti (John) Cournoyer of St. Paul; grandchildren, Bryan, Robert, and Stephen Swanstrom and Danny (Cheri) and Jackie Stine; and great-grandchildren, Kayla, Carter, and Arick. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
SERVICE: 11 a.m. Monday, July 22, 2013 in Norton Park United Methodist Church, 436 N 79th Ave W, Duluth. Visitation one hour prior to the service in the church. Interment at Calvary Cemetery.
