Paul E. Johnson, 97, of Cloquet, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Community Memorial Hospital.
He was born Feb. 28, 1916 in Cloquet to Andrew and Hulda Johnson.
Paul served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Hebert-Kennedy VFW Post 3979. He retired from the Gamble Store in Cloquet. Paul loved golfing and had been a member of the Big Lake Golf Club and also enjoyed traveling with his wife, Myrtle.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Myrtle; one son, Dennis Johnson; two brothers, Arnold and Roland; and two sisters, Alice Johnson and Millie Smith.
He is survived by three grandsons, Scott, Steve (Missy) and Shaun (Terry) Johnson; daughter-in-law, Joyce Johnson; one brother, Ray Johnson; five great-grandchildren, Ashley, Kennedy, Morgan, Zach, and Anna; and numerous nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: 10 a.m. Monday, July 22, 2013 until the 11 a.m. funeral service in Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet. Interment service will be at Maple Grove Cemetery with Military Honors presented by the Cloquet Combined Honor Guard. See the family online guest book at www.nelsonfuneralcare.net
