Charles W. Elder, 66, of Redwood Falls, Minn passed away Wednesday July 10, 2013 after a courageous battle of 12 years with Crohns disease.
He was born Dec. 12, 1946 in Duluth, Minn. He grew up in a close knit family on a farm near Saginaw, Minn. Chuck was a 1964 graduate of Proctor High School. After high school he atttended UMD and DBU with a degree in accounting. Chuck also served in the Army National Guard for six years.
Chuck had a passion for hunting and fishing and had many wonderful trips into the wilderness. One of his favorite hunting trips was traveling to Montana with family to hunt elk and mule deer. The stories that came from that trip are told every year at the family reunions with great laughter.
Chuck had a way of making those around him feel very special He had a quick wit and wonderful sense of humor.
Chuck was a devoted Christian and very involved in his church in Redwood Falls.
Chuck is preceded in death by his parents Donald and Caroline Watters; and brother-in-law Pete Swanson.
Chuck is survived by his wife Jerre; daughter Jody (Scott) Alexander of Maple Grove, Minn; and step-daughter Julie Gustafson of St Louis Park, Minn. He is also survived by two sisters, Diane (Gary) Bednar of Mokena, Il, and Donna Swanson of Duluth, Minn; and a brother Steven (Fay) Elder of Proctor, Minn; and his beloved grandchildren Reilly, Reese and Max Alexander and Alison Gustafson; with many cousins, nieces and nephews that will miss his humor and his gift of presence.
VISITATION: 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 16 in Nelson Marten Funeral Home, 111 S. Halvorson St., Redwood Falls. Funeral service 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 17 in Alliance Congregation Church, 231 E. 2nd St., Redwood Falls. Meal and fellowship to follow. Pastor Kim Dean to Officiate.
