Earl Lester Carlson passed away June 13, 2013 in Minneapolis at the age of 98.
He was born April 20, 1915 on a farm north of Lake Lillian, Minn., to August and Hanna Carlson.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Lake Lillian Methodist church. He attended district 43 country school in Fallon township, then worked on the family farm. In 1940 Earl was drafted into the U.S. Army for World War II. After training in Camp Clayborne and Fort Dix he was sent to Ireland. He later joined both the North African and Italian campaigns. He was discharged in 1944 and worked at Diamond Tool in Minneapolis.
In 1947 he was married to Marjorie Mattson and moved to Duluth. He resided on the North Shore and worked at both Franklin and Foremost Creameries, and Ace Hardware.
Earl attended Lester Park United Methodist Church.
Earl is survived by daughter Shelly and son-in-law Todd Truwe of Champlin; brother, Alton of Willmar and a sister Clarice wife of Paul Nasby of Jackaon; brother-in-law, Wayne Mattson of Atwater and a sister-in-law Vivian Carlson of Willmar. He is also remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.
Interment will be at a later date in Duluth.
