Joyce Arlene (Maki) Price of Hibbing, Minn., passed away peacefully on June 22, 2013, after a brief struggle with cancer.
She was born June 18, 1934 in Ironwood, Mich., to Jennie and Martin Maki.
She graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood and attended Gogebic Community College, and was married to Leslie E. Price on Aug. 26, 1956 in Zion Lutheran Church in Ironwood.
During her married life Joyce lived in Ely, Minn.; Ironwood, Mich.; Shawville, Quebec; Ear Falls and Cochenour, Ontario; and Hibbing, Minn., during her husband's career as a mining engineer/supervisor. She worked as a secretary for several firms, most recently for Al Diehl & Mike Fay insurance agencies of Hibbing.
Joyce loved gardening, baking, handiwork, the outdoors, curling, golf and music. She brightened her family's life with the songs she had for every occasion, and she was a lifelong participant in vocal and instrumental music.
She loved her Lord and was a faithful servant of her church, as a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Chisholm.
Joyce was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and her family always came first. She is survived by her husband Leslie and her four sons Dwight (Susan Stith), Nathan (Joanna Price), Arthur and Craig; her sisters Dorothy Tibaldo, Marilyn Vuorenmaa, Janice DiMeio, Karen Henning, and her brothers Donald Maki and Marvin Maki; her aunt Signe Saari; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and her grandchildren Laurel, Susan, Jeremy, Ronan, LiLi, Gracie, Callum and Theo.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: 1 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2013 in Grace Lutheran Church in Chisholm. Visitation one hour prior to the service. A funeral and service of Christian burial will be held in Trinity Lutheran Church in Ironwood, Mich., on Monday, July 1; a visitation will be held at 10 a.m., with the service to follow at 11 a.m.
