Nancy J. Thelen, 77, of Carlton, passed away peacefully Friday, June 21, 2013, in Inter-Faith Care Center.
Nancy was born May 26, 1936, in Cloquet, to Paul and Dorothy (Michaud) Leno and graduated from Cloquet High School in 1954. She worked at the Chief Theater, Conwed Corp. and was co-owner of the Thelen's Grocery in Atkinson until moving to Cloquet when she became a homemaker.
Nancy was united in marriage to Daniel Thelen Nov. 26, 1955, and had three children. She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and Homemakers and enjoyed cooking, holiday meals, playing Yatzee and card clubs. Nancy also loved to sew and spend time with her grandkids and great-grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father Carl Polo; sisters Mary Leno, Patricia Draper and Donna Abrahamson.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Daniel; children Robert of Gilbert, Thomas (Gwendolen) of Carlton, and Valerie of Milton, W. Va.; sister Janice Pickus of Cloquet; brother Ira (Brenda) Leno of Mahtowa; grandchildren Juanita, Michael, Anthony and Kimberly; great-grandchildren Dominic, Dylan, Damond and Thor; and numerous nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: 5-7 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. wake service Tuesday, June 25, and 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, June 26, all in Nelson Funeral Care.
