Dorothy Labuda Novek, 95, of Chino, Calif., passed away May 3, 2013.
She was born at St. Mary's hospital in Duluth on Dec. 23, 1917.
She attended Franklin Elementary School. She left school at age 15 to work at the Hotel Duluth, and later waitressed at the Arrowhead Hotel. She married Frank Novek on her eighteenth birthday in 1935, and they remained married until his death in 1969. She moved to Chicago in 1941 and to Chino in 1998. Dorothy enjoyed family road trips, coin collecting, quilting and crocheting. She was an avid bingo player.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph Labuda and Johanna Starosta; her sisters Helen and Barbara Jane; her son-in-law Norv Fisher, and her grandson Joseph Novek.
She is survived by her son Richard (Barbara) of Chino; her daughter Joanne of Flossmoor, Ill.; her brother William Labuda of Cloquet; her brother-in-law Woodrow Novek of Rutledge, Minn.; six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
PRIVATE SERVICES: will be held. She will be buried alongside her husband Frank at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, Ill.
