Mila Mae (Matheson) Ringsred, died April 14, 2013 "of old age", as she would say, in Duluth.
She was born Aug. 22, 1925 and raised in Virginia, Minn.
She was active in school sports, outdoor pursuits, and kept these interests throughout her life; right up to the end. During World War II, at age 17, she worked in the naval shipyards in Oakland, Calif., afterwards attending the U of M studying social work. After raising her family Mila worked 15 years for the Duluth School District in their Community Ed. Office.
Mila lived in the Ringsred family home on Grandview Avenue in Duluth for 58 years, from 1955 to present. She was the greatest and best loved mom in the neighborhood.
She was a true friend of all dogs, cats, birds, animals, trees and plants. She will be missed by the wildlife at Chester Bowl and Brighton Beach; which Mila referred to as "my church". And missed by her five children, Eric (Debbie), Karen (Rick Manka), Leif (Jan), Chris (Sally) and Ted (Tanya); her six grandchildren, Anna, Miles, Odin, Anders, Corbin, Miranda, and Fox; by her former husband John; and by many friends.
MEMORIAL GATHERING OF FRIENDS AND FAMILY: will be outdoors at some point this summer. We'll keep you posted on the particulars if you send a note to Leif at 1002 Grandview Ave., Duluth 55812; or email Eric at firstname.lastname@example.org
