John "Jack" Goodell, 82, died on Easter Sunday, March 31.
Jack was born and raised in Judson, Minn.
He served in the US Navy from 1951-1955 on ships deployed in the Mediterranean Sea. He was promoted each year and left the service as a Petty Officer. After discharge, he graduated from Mankato State College with a BS in Education. Jack married Alison Starr of Mankato in 1957 and they had four children; Robert, Nathan, Hilary and Leslie. The young family moved to Cloquet in 1966 as Jack continued his career as an educator.
Jack was a teacher in the Cloquet School System for over 30 years. He continued teaching in Duluth public schools during his retirement.
Jack is remembered as a caring professional, a devoted family man, a craftsman and artist, and a man of quiet wit.
Jack is survived by his former wife Alison Starr, their four children, 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and by Harriet Besser, companion in his final years.
VISITATION: 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial services on Thursday, April 18, at the Gospel Tabernacle church on 14th St. and Washington Avenue in Cloquet. Burial will be at the Hebron cemetery near Judson Minn. on Sunday May 26.
