Cody James Salo from Esko was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Monday, March 25, 2013.
James and Brenda Salo were blessed with the birth of Cody James on May, 21, 1991.
Cody graduated from Esko High School in 2010 where he was an accomplished athlete and participated in track, golf, and football. He received many awards including "The Hammer" for his leadership, skill, and strength on the field. Football was Cody's passion.
Cody was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He made many great memories with his dad, brothers, and friends at hunting shacks and trips to Canada. He cherished his time spent in Tamarack. Cody was game for anything. He loved ping pong, poker, golfing, bowling, movies, or just chilling with Team Sparky, and members of the "Dream Team".
Cody always displayed Finnish "Sisu" (determination, strength, and guts) whether it meant getting a motorcycle license, passing gun and snowmobile safety, or obtaining his CNA…..Cody always went for it. He always believed "Go Big or Go Home!"
Cody will be remembered for his kindness, his huge heart of gold, his loyalty to his friends, his great love for his family, and great protector of his sister Tia. Cody always had a sense of adventure and humor, the twinkle in his blue eyes and his incredible gift of gab will be missed. He was a blessing to all who knew him, and he made friends with many and anyone. He was a people person!
Welcoming Cody into heaven are his paternal grandparents Ray and Katherine Salo; and his uncle Wayne Salo.
Cody will be forever in the hearts of his mother Brenda Salo (Steve Mattson) of Wrenshall; his father James (Gail) Salo of Cloquet; sister Tia Bree of Duluth; brother TJ (Kelly) and nephew Logan and niece Kaia of Elk River; brother Dapper (Alli) of Arden Hills; grandparents James and Verna Flynn of Esko; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, countless friends, and Lilly the Cat.
