Rica (Enricketta) Caroline Johnson, 89, formerly of Ely, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at St. Michael’s Health and Rehabilitation Center in Virginia.
She was born June 29, 1923 in Ely to Enrico and Geromina (Magnetti) DeBernardi.
She attended Ely schools and graduated from Ely Memorial in 1941. She married Raymond William Johnson on August 24, 1946.
She started in housekeeping at Ely-Bloomenson Community Hospital and became director of housekeeping at Methodist Hospital in Minneapolis. She retired back to Ely in 1983. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Ely.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond and sister Antionette Thompson.
She is survived by her children: Jerome (Charleen) Johnson of Sun City West, Ariz., and Gina (Joseph) Geis of Tower; brothers: Louis (Leona) DeBernardi of Sun City, Ariz., and Arthur (Jerry Lou) DeBernardi of Foley, Minn.; sister Gloria (Matthew) Vertin of Ely; granddaughters: Christina (Phillip) Wulf, Teresa (Jeremy) Pannkuk, Jennifer (Brian) Hren and Angela Geis; and six great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
SERVICE: 1 p.m. Monday, March 25, 2013 in Kerntz Funeral Home in Ely with visitation being held one hour earlier in the funeral home. Family arrangements have been entrusted to Kerntz Funeral Home of Ely.
