MARY LOU AND MAYNARD TURE PETERSONMary Lou Peterson, 86 of Cloquet went to be with the Lord on March 21, 2013 and Maynard Ture Peterson, 85 of Cloquet, joined her on March 22, 2013, both died of natural causes, only 17 hours apart.
Mary Lou Peterson, 86, of Cloquet went to be with the Lord on March 21, 2013 and Maynard Ture Peterson, 85, of Cloquet , joined her on March 22, 2013. They were united in marriage on August 2, 1947.
Mary Lou was born to Charles and Mary ( Jarve) Pouti on January 6, 1927 in Aitkin, Minn. Maynard was born to Ture and Jennie (Smith) Peterson on May 26, 1927 in Superior, Wis. They both graduated from Superior Central High School, Mary Lou in 1944 and Maynard in 1945.
Maynard was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during WWII as a chaplain’s assistant. He retired from Potlatch in 1989 after 44 years. Mary Lou was a secretary for various offices in Cloquet .
Mary Lou enjoyed spending time with friends in the neighborhood and her Bible study groups. Maynard spent his time building houses. Together they both loved to go dancing.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Allan and Robert Pouti; half-siblings, Edward and Charles Jr. Pouti and Mary Steiro . Maynard was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Marjorie Mattson. They both lost an infant son and a daughter-in law Kelly.
They are both survived by their daughters, Julie (Phil) Aili of Esko and Robin (Phil) Johnson of Esko; sons, Randy of Two Harbors, Dennis (Bev) of Yukon, Okla., and Jeff of Tulsa, Okla.; 17 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; Maynard is survived by his brother, Daniel (Gloria) Peterson of Elverson, Pa., and Mary Lou is survived by her sister-in-law, Lee Pouti of Cloquet .
