Robert Charles Engel, 88, formerly of Duluth and currently of Indianapolis, Ind., died Monday, March 18, 2013 from complications of Parkinson’s Disease.
He was born on Nov. 18, 1924 to Martin and Martha (Unden) Engel in Duluth.
Robert graduated from Central High School and attended UMD.
Robert was a United States Army veteran stationed at Camp Robert’s California.
He married Rosemauri Katz in Duluth.
Robert was employed in the Auditors Office for the City of Duluth for 33 years retiring in 1982. Following his retirement he and his wife traveled extensively throughout North America.
Robert was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, public employee’s retirement in Duluth and the Duluth Superior Symphony for many years. He had a passion for operatic music and classical music. He donated his 50 year collection of music to the University of Minnesota-Duluth music department.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his siblings.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemauri Katz-Engel of Indianapolis, Ind.; his niece, Stefani Preston of Indianapolis and his nephew, Robert Graves of Gardener, Kan.
CELEBRATION OF LIFE: and a luncheon will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Animal Allies in Roberts name if so desired. Interment will be at Park Hill Cemetery.
